This is a wonderful opportunity to work at the heart of the local community as a Community and Events Apprentice. In this rewarding role, you’ll play a hands-on part in delivering vibrant community engagements across Littlehampton Town Council’s events, all while working towards your Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Full Description
What you will be doing: -Provide administrative, operational and on-the-ground assistance across the Council’s community engagement and events functions while completing the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship. -Assist with the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community events and work to support community groups and forums. -Help with digital communications. The role combines hands-on administrative work with structured training, enabling the apprentice to develop professional skills while contributing to high-quality public services. Key Responsibilities: Community Engagement -Assist with liaising between the Town Council, residents, community groups and partner organisations. -Assist with community research by compiling data. -Help with the coordination and delivery of community initiatives -Assist in the administration of community forums. -Provide administrative assistance for community funding programmes. Event Support -Assist with the planning and delivery of the events programme. -Assist with the event logistics including set up and stewarding. -Assist with event health and safety documentation. Communications and Promotion -Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks including telephone answering, email correspondence, maintaining databases and undertaking surveys. -Contribute to website, newsletter and social media content. -Assist with producing promotional materials. -Assist with press and media activities Administration and General Duties -Help gather feedback and statistics for monitoring and evaluation -Assist with researching funding or sponsorship opportunities. -Maintain accurate records and audit-ready documentation. -Support the coordination of volunteers. -Assist with purchase orders, quotation and budget updates. -Provide administrative support for projects as required. -To undertake relevant training and development opportunities. -To comply with the Town Council’s policies at all times, including Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Safeguarding. -Apply consistently the principles of Equal Opportunities and promote the council’s values and behaviours in all aspects of work. -Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the role. Who you will be: -Able to communicate clearly using simple, appropriate language and to listen effectively to others. -Works cooperatively as part of a team and supports colleagues when required. -With guidance, organises workload effectively and completes tasks on time. -Identifies straightforward issues and seeks guidance when needed to ensure appropriate action is taken. -Can demonstrate procedures to colleagues when needed. -Uses basic ICT systems accurately, including email, databases and standard MS Office applications.

Future Prospects
The apprentice will be offered personal development training during their apprenticeship but there is no offer of a permanent role unless one becomes available.

What you need to know: -Interviews will take place on the 20th April so shortlisted applicants will need to be available to attend. Start date for the role will be as soon as possible after offer and learning will start on the next available cohort. -This Level 3 qualification is an 18-month apprenticeship plus a 3-month end point assessment. -To apply you must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years before the start date of the apprenticeship learning and have authorisation to work in the UK. -You cannot apply if you already have a qualification equal to or higher than the apprenticeship standard being studied. -You can apply if you have a higher qualification than the apprenticeship standard in an unrelated subject. -Ability to work evenings and weekends. The post requires significant flexibility in terms of time management. This may require working at weekends, working evenings etc. This will be compensated for, principally by time off in lieu which will be planned and agreed with the Events Manager and the Community Engagement Manager. -Ability to undertake manual handling tasks as appropriate for the role Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £8.00 per hour (As of the 1st April 2026). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16- to 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
