Below is a brief description of the role - please visit the role on our website for full details about the role and working with CFT https://www.cft.org.uk/about-us/jobs We are seeking applicants for the position of Education Apprentice, which is aligned with a new Cultural Learning and Participation Officer Apprenticeship at Chichester College. The role is based CFT is seeking applicants for the position of Education Apprentice, aligned to the new Creative Learning and Participation Officer Apprenticeship with Chichester College, alongside on the role training and development at CFT. The role is based in our Learning, Education and Participation (LEAP) team, and runs for two years from August 2021. This role is part of a new Apprenticeship and an average of one day per week will be spent undertaking formal learning under the direction and in collaboration with a Course Leader at Chichester College. This post is aimed at self-motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop in a supportive environment. You might be a recent school or college leaver with an interest in theatre or working with Children and Young People in education. You will have an interest in exploring how the arts can have a wider social benefit and a desire to learn the skills needed to support practical theatre workshops, projects and events. You will gain a hand-on experience, mixing practical and administrative work with college learning. You will support the Formal Education strand of the LEAP programme, helping to deliver an extensive annual programme of activities within schools, colleges, universities and at CFT for pupils aged 5-25. Over the course of the Apprenticeship, you will have opportunities to gain professional experience in arts administration, practical workshop delivery, project management and leadership skills. In addition, you will receive ongoing mentoring and coaching. You will work towards completing a formal apprenticeship in Cultural Learning and Participation, which Is celebrated and monitored throughout the role in a portfolio of work, culminating in an End-Point Assessment. Significant outcomes will include: Year 1 • An opportunity to extend own arts practice, research skills, experiencing a range of art forms and creating new work. • An opportunity to research, develop and deliver your own participatory arts project with CFT and Chichester College support and mentoring, enabling you to develop a range of project management skills. • An understanding of arts administration and how to support the needs of different pupils. • Experience working in a range of settings and learning from a range of practitioners, including practical training opportunities to develop facilitation and planning skills. • Developing your knowledge through a portfolio of work on a weekly basis, reflecting on skills development, new learning and how to utilise and extend these opportunities in the future. • Opportunities to understand effective arts leadership and to develop your own distinctive leadership style. This will include a self-reflective framework of professional development. We are looking for individuals who have: • An interest in working creatively with a wide range of young people in formal learning • Excitement and passion for theatre/creative arts and a belief that they should and can be for everyone • A strong work ethic and a commitment to supporting and growing the work of LEAP • A desire to develop project management and leadership skills • Good time management skills • Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, learn from others and share ideas • Previous experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams) • A full, clean driving licence, ability to drive, and the use of a car (optional)

Training to be Provided
Cultural Learning and Participation Officers (CLPO) plan, organise and co-ordinate artistic and cultural education workshops, schedules of activity and community engagement projects that will vary in duration. The activities that are planned, organised and co-ordinated by the CLPO, typically include teaching arts, culture and heritage subjects, creative workshops, visits, talks, performances, festivals, events and digital arts, using online content and social networks as appropriate. Activities may be accessed in cultural venues, online (through delivering webinars) and other settings for example schools, hospitals, prisons and community settings such as care homes. These activities act as a vehicle to enable learning, skills development, wellbeing, social inclusion and community engagement. They use arts and culture to enhance and improve learning about wider subjects e.g. teamwork, communication, resilience and may use activities that include dance, music, drama or provide curriculum resources in the arts. The activities are aimed at diverse audiences e.g. children, young people, vulnerable adults and local community groups (youth theatre groups or charities) to ensure they have a range of opportunities to access, create and benefit from artistic and cultural activities e.g. learning an instrument; improving communication skills.
